Painting is to me in a very personal expression, a story, an aesthetic based on the artist's goals, one that reverberates what the artist's perceives and appreciates. Many ask, why paint? the answer is very simple, because it is something which nourishes the soul, and allows me to delve into my own world. Very often it is like a dialogue initiated on paper, a flow of energy derived as a reaction to that experience. Each painting is a balance of composition, colour and technique all of which are in very delicate balance with each other. In my landscapes, mostly painted on location en plein air, I try to convey the sense of place, the lighting and the overall massing, and often with a fleeting feeling to overcome the ever changing outdoor conditions. Whilst painting in what can be described as an as an extension of the artist's language, I constantly seek to find new interpretations of the world around me.
